Try Sailing

May, 2018

In 2018 MTSC and will hold at least two open days as part of the Royal Yachting Association's "Push the Boat Out" campaign. Please contact us or review this website to see the exact dates; we're currently planning for the 12th and 19th May. We will be operating a booking scheme as this helps the day run smoothly with no-one hanging around waiting.

You will be able try sailing and discuss membership, options for boats and further training. This has been very successful in the past few years, with everyone enjoying themselves and new members joining the club.

If you missed the opportunity in previous years and your family have general interest in outdoor activities, have sailed in the past and would like to try again or just fancy trying a new friendly sport, then just get in touch by email.

Email us, as you can sail by prior arrangement at any time during the sailing season. As a beginner it is sensible to restrict this to the spring and summer (Easter to September). It's warmer!

What to bring

The club will be providing light refreshments, if you're staying longer, perhaps to enjoy a walk around the reservoir, bring a picnic. If you intend to sail please bring a change of clothes as you can get splashed even on the nicest of days. Some old trainers that you don't mind getting wet as the area is stony and you will have to step in the water to get into the boat.

Merthyr Tydfil Sailing Club will provide buoyancy aids and wind-proof overalls if the weather's not wonderful; but remember we need some wind to make the boat go!
